Alternator Takes ac voltage and converts it to DC. Sometimes this will not work correctly and send to much Ac voltage. This will mess up computers and cause car not to run right. When you get tested at autopart they only see the DC voltage. I seen on that showed 14.5 DC but when I done the Ac test spikes of 50 volts. They had changed so many parts and still not fixed.
when I showed them the AC voltage spikes was amazed.
